Keyword Placement

Primary Keyword

• Always use the primary keyword in the title.
• For copy greater than 200 words:
  • Use the primary keyword in the first 50 words.
  • Use the primary keyword in the last 50 words.
• For copy less than 200 words:
  • Use the primary keyword in the first sentence.
  • Use the primary keyword in the last sentence.
• Optional: Use primary keyword naturally throughout the copy.

Secondary Keyword(s)

• Use secondary keyword(s) naturally throughout the copy.
• Each secondary keyword must be used at least once in the copy.

Modifying Keyword Phrases

• Do not change the keyword phrase if it can be used in a grammatically correct way.
• If the keyword phrase needs punctuation to be grammatically correct you may apply:
  • Apostrophe
  • Capitalization
  • Commas
  • Hyphens
  • Periods
  • Semicolons
  • Question marks
• Do not change:
  • Pluralization
  • Spacing
  • Tense
• If you change a letter in the keyword phrase you have violated the keyword phrase rules.
